My name is Debbie and I am a first year student nurse. I am 43, have a young daughter and a Shih-tzu dog. I'm vegetarian
and have always eaten a fairly healthy diet. I am an animal lover and care for the environment.
I was diagnosed with
Necrobiotic Xantho-Granuloma associated with Paraprotein 1Gg Kappa in 2005. My paraprotein was first recorded by a blood test
at 11.2. It then increased to 11.9, remained stable for 6 months until a month ago when it had risen to 12.9. The NXG lesions
have been present for approximately 3 years on my arms and legs.
My condition has been investigated by my haematologist who I see on a 6 monthly basis. I have had a bone marrow
biopsy, CT scan and a skeletal survey for indications of myeloma. These have so far proved negative. My haematologist
is taking a wait and see approach.
To date, I have had no treatment other than UV therapy for the NXG which I discontinued
after skin irritation became a problem.
Understandably, I am very concerned about my condition and the lack of concrete
information relating to it. I would welcome anyone with a knowledge or interest in this condition to contact me.
